Alabama State University's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a two-day conference titled, "Operation Boots to Business" on February 4-5, at Maxwell Air Force Base that is a entrepreneurial education and training program for all veterans, military service members, military reserves, National Guard members and military spouses.

It is hosted by ASU and offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of the Department of Defense’s Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

This is all part of ASU's "CommUniversity" concept initiated by President Quinton T. Ross, Jr., which promotes the University building bridges to help others in the outside community, said the director of Alabama State University's SBDC, which is sponsoring the event.

“The curriculum provides valuable assistance to service members and spouses exploring business ownership by leading them through the key steps for evaluating business concepts and providing the foundational knowledge that is required to develop a business plan," said Andrea Rogers Mosley, director, ASU's Small Business Development Center.

The conference is sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, Veteran Business Outreach Center, Mississippi State University, Maxwell Air Force Base Transition Assistance Program, and the Alabama SBDC Network at Alabama State University.

Pre-registration is required because space is limited. The event is free.
